Friday Faves: Sailor Pro Gear Yukitsubaki Fountain Pen

How was your week? I'd say mine was alright! I was feeling less energized than usual, but today, I'm super pumped to share another Friday Faves. (:

The Sailor Pro Gear Yukitsubaki Fountain Pen is one the fanciest, most expensive pens (aside from my Mont Blanc Meisterstuck Rollerball) in my collection at the moment.

Because of its hefty price tag, I treat this particular fountain pen with extra care. I've been mindful not to use it with less expensive paper and just overall, handle it quite gingerly...which has sometimes meant not using it at all.

I collect fountain pens, so that I can use them and enjoy them. I believe many of you subscribe to that same camp. So, when I voiced my hesitation aloud to use this fountain pen in a similar manner as my less expensive ones, there were some of you who cried out, "NOoOoOoOOOoO!!!"

Haha, and with good reason, too! I believe my pen friend, Peter, described this pen as a "workhorse". It's meant to be used and with cheaper paper too! So, I've loosened the reigns a bit and started using this beautiful pen more freely. It's SO LOVELY!

I love that it's a bit on the shorter side as it's more comfortable in my smaller hands. The screw cap does post very nicely, adding a slight bit of back weight, but nothing crazy. This medium-fine nib is a 14k gold nib - the only gold nib in my collection - and it writes beautifully! It definitely gives me a luxurious writing experience. (: Not to mention, the body of it is so gorgeous. I love the little specks of reddish-pink glitter. It's just a sprinkling and not overdone.

All in all, this Sailor Pro Gear fountain pen has set a new standard for fountain pens I want to bring into my collection and writing space!
